Matinyana Fund homepageStudents Report 2010

The Matinyana Fund has developed to a small but very successful student bursary fund for students from Nelson Mandela Township (Nemato) in Port Alfred, South Africa. The selection of students is in the hands of Dr. Isaac Mabindisa. All his life he worked in education for universities in South Africa and Canada. This gave him excelent skills to select and advise students.

The level of education in our township schools is at a very low level. The old apartheid regime designed the township educational system to keep the black population stupid. Our current teachers grew up in that system. They don't have the skills and knowledge to do their job. That demotivates both the teachers and the learners with a disastrous effect on the level of education.

Nemato Rowing Club has build its own classroom and we started homework classes for our athletes. Soon we'll include a soccer team into the program and in a later stage our new gymnastics club. Hopefully from here the school results will improve and we'll be able to offer our learners a fair change to prepare for university.

In 2010 we have been able to include a number of new students in the Matinyana Fund bursary program. Almost all students we selected in the last years are doing very well at university and really deserve your support!

Thank you very much for all the donations!!
We hope to receive your support again.
Without your help our students have no chance to change their lives!

In Holland the Matinyana Fund has ANBI-status. Your donation are tax deductible.
